The Joy of Pixel Blue Eyes' Gorgeous Eyes

As Pixel recovers from her very important tail surgery, she said that I could post something since she is not feeling well right now. So, I found a photo that I took of her the night before her surgery last Wednesday. I was playing with side lighting and no flash to try and capture her gorgeous multiple colored eyes, which can be seen better in person and are often hard to fully capture in photos. This portrait of my sweet little girl really shows just how unique and striking her beautiful eyes are.
Now you can see why I call her Pixel Blue Eyes.

Nurse Pixel Gets a Lesson in Being a Good Patient

"A second of freedom, a moment of fun, a bad decision on Mommy's part and me being an adventure dog."
Pull up a seat friends and have a rice krispie treat with me. My "Monday Mischief" is all part of a grander story.
Have you ever had a really brilliant idea that you just knew would be the best thing ever...only to discover it wasn't so great in the end? Well, that was me, convalescing Pixel Blue Eyes, on Sunday afternoon/evening.
I really need to first explain my current situation. I finally got my much needed tail surgery on Wednesday to correct my badly docked tail that has caused me years of pain and suffering. My Mommy and I have been chronicling all about it on my Pixel Blue Eyes Facebook page, as well as on our campaign page to educate about tail docking dangers called No Tail Left Behind.
Here's what happened Sunday, in which I got into a little mischief 3 days after major surgery...
Mommy and I were sitting on the couch together and hanging out with the family. She'd removed my 'flotation device' (blue protective collar, aka 'neck pillow') for a while just to give me a break from it. Well, Mommy got up for a minute to get something, I saw the chance for a moment of 'freedom' and I TOOK IT! I jumped off the couch and found Mommy, but I wasn't walking, I was doing a funky bunny hop thing. Though it made them laugh because I was cute, they were worried about me exerting myself only a few days after surgery. That was when Mommy also saw that I had pulled off my pretty yellow tail wrapping and had probably given my stitches a good nibble.
With that worry in mind, Mommy went into full 'Nurse' mode. She should have been wearing my nurses outfit since she was so official...really! First she analyzed my tail wound, and was very glad to see all the tiny stitches still in tact. Then she gently cleaned the surrounding area without getting my stitches wet, and finally, she wrapped my tail again while Grammy held me up and sang to me. Mommy was super gentle, as always, but it hurt and I moaned into Grammy's arms. I was SUCH a good sweet girl Mommy said, for staying there and not moving. It only hurt because Mommy had to lift up my tail at the base to access it. I was distressed afterwards, so Mommy gave me a little medicine to help me relax and feel better. Needless to say, I must wear my blue protective collar all the time right now.
As I reflect back on this experience, I realize that being a good patient is very important when you are sick, in hospitals or at home. Getting into mischief is really fun, but you must be careful not to do something that will 'get you' later.
For the time being, I will rest and try not to take any more adventurous risks until I am all healed from my surgery. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers, and know that Mommy is taking GREAT care of me. I think I taught her all my Nurse Pixel skills, so she is doing a fine job.

What did you do this weekend? I'd love to hear. Just leave me a comment and tell me ALL about it. I always love hearing about my friends.

Pixel's Weekend Recap - Mischief Monday

I had a very eventful weekend. I had to be nurse Pixel to two sickly family members, and I received a much anticipated item in the mail. My Mommy told me Thursday night that she had been bitten hard by the office bug. I immediately thought of that rogue bee that bit me and so I checked her over really well for a stinger. She didn't have one that I could find, but I made her go to the doctor Friday morning just in case, especially since she had to call in sick.
When she got home after the doctor's office, I made her rest and I held all her calls while she lay down.
Next thing I know, my cousin Peanut started acting like she was ill too. She came up on the bed with me and Mommy and snuggled, which is often unusual when Peanut's Mommy is not home. So, I lay close to both Mommy and Peanut, snuggling them both. Peanut ended up needing to go to the vet and get fluids and nausea medicine, so I made her a poster from the photos Mommy took of us.
I also received something in the mail that me and Mommy had been waiting for since the U.S. Super Bowl at the beginning of February. I had won an official doggie NFL football jersey during a Twitter Pawty for "Super Dog Sunday". It has my our favorite team of the Carolina Panthers. Well, I am not too keen on wearing lots of clothes, so I had Mommy try the jersey on my stuffed Morgan Dog first. It looked real good on her, so we posed together.
After a few photos, I finally agreed to try on the super cool looking Carolina Panthers jersey against my better judgement. As you know, sweaters tend to take my super powers away. Sure enough, as soon as the jersey was on, it became like a lead safe and I was forced to lay down frog dog style from the heaviness of the jersey...just like kryptonite does to Superman!
Mommy tried to help me regain my strength. After some sweet Mommy coaxing, and a few kibble snacks to help out,  I was able to give Mommy a big Pixel smile. Maybe I will get used to this jersey thing after all. I mean, football season is fast approaching. I might be a little girl doggie, but I do like to play football!
