The Joy of Crocus Flowers - Happy First Day of Spring

Happy First Day of Spring 2013!! I am here with my sweet little sister Dixie Mae, reporting to you live from our front yard. Today is officially the first day of Spring, and what better way to bring in this new and beautiful season than to celebrate crocus flowers. They are the very first flora to set about a glorious display as Spring draws near here in the beautiful Appalachian mountains of Virginia.

I hope you enjoy these crocus flowers from my front yard. Don't worry, no doggies were stung in the making of these photos (you can read about "The Rogue Bee Incident" from last year here). All these bees were very nice, but just to be on the safe side, Dixie Mae and I kept a safe distance away while Mommy took these photos.

Where do you live and what is the first flower to bloom letting you know spring is fast approaching?

This is a (mostly) "Wordless Wednesday" blog hop, sponsored by Blog Paws, the wonderful social media and blogging community that is hosting the Blog Paws 2013 Conference that Mommy and I will be attending thanks to winning a blogging competition that Blog Paws and Tillman Skates had last month. Click on some of the links below to see what my fellow bloggers are doing on this first day of Spring (in the northern hemisphere). Can you believe that today is also the first day of Fall for my friends in the southern Hemisphere?? That includes my dear friend Rubie the mini Schnauzer who lives in Australia and blogs about all her adventures too.

  1. Ah, thank you for sharing the spring pics! That gives me hope spring will come to Minnesota some time. Very smart move to keep your distance from the bees ;-)

  2. What pretty crocus flowers! And what pretty bees! The daffodillies were first to bloom here. Our Bradford pears are going nuts right now.

  3. Well, we have no signs of spring, just lots of snow and another morning in the single digits...winter is not letting go this year! Maybe I will come visit you guys!

  4. Hey Pixel! We have the Crocous flowers too. Of course we live in PA so you and I have the same type of seasons. I live in Quakertown, Pa. Maybe someday mom will take me to see you and we can visit. You will have to let me know what town you live in. Mom said if it's under 4 hours away it is doable. Tell your sister Dixie Mae Hi from Me. M.J.
