We Will Never Forget - Remembering 9/11 on Patriot's Day

Today is the 13th Anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on the United States. It happened on September 11, 2001, well before I was born, but my Mommy remembers it like it was yesterday. You can read all the details about that tragic attack on our great nation on hundreds of websites, in thousands of books, and see it in countless videos, but today I'd like to share with you what my Mommy says about it.

I will NEVER forget.
I remember everything about the morning of 9/11. Who I was with, what I was doing, how I found out that planes had flown directly into BOTH World Trade Center buildings, what the towers looked like as they burned, as they fell. I remember the horror, the shock, my tears, my fear, even though I was safe in my little town hundreds of miles away...but was I safe? The concept of terror did indeed strike true.
That day, those horrific events in New York, Pennsylvania, and Washington DC changed everything for everyone in America. I remember the chill of the perfectly cloudless, blue sky. I remember the stillness of the air and how not a single aircraft could be seen or heard that day. So much to remember. So many images from the TV news, from photos, from the stories of lives lost, heroes made, families torn apart, but miracles that happened in the midst of terrible destruction. People came together like never before.
No, I will never forget. Never.

God bless all the people who survived, all the souls who were lost, and all the people who lost loved ones and friends on 9/11. We will always remember you!
