Does This Dress Make Me Look Fat? New Metabolic Pet Food & a GIVEAWAY by #HillsPet

"Mommy, does this dress make me look fat?" I know, it's not something you expect your pet to ask you. To be honest, I've never thought about my weight before...most pets don't. In fact, we don't worry about our weight at all! Yet there is a growing epidemic of overweight pets in the U.S.:  53% of dogs and 55% of cats are overweight. Many pet parents don't realize their pet is carrying extra pounds. Mommy certainly didn't realize I was about 2 pounds over my ideal weight a few years ago. She was so unhappily surprised that I weighed 14 pounds when I should only weigh 11-12 pounds. It can happen to anyone.

Several factors can contribute to weight issues. Plus, I must admit, pets love food. You know how pets are. We follow our nose, and are content to eat anything and everything we can get our paws on. (I'm just being honest here.) If we hear any type of food sounds, we come running. Whether it's our supper time or yours, we're close on your heels, asking to take part. Pets love to eat. And we love giving you adorable little looks to get you to give us a treat, a bite, or a nibble of food. We are quite persuasive.

Pets never think about things like eating proper proportions, being overweight, or watching our diet, so pets must rely on pet parents to manage what we eat for us.
It can be tough though, because no one wants to feel like they’re depriving their dog or cat of food – even when it's to help them maintain or lose weight. Controlling portions or withholding treats isn't fun. But extra weight adds up quickly for a pet, causing health issues, just as it can for humans.
Ask yourself and then ask your vet, "Is my pet at their ideal weight? Does my pet need to lose a few pounds to get to an optimum weight for long term health and well being?" It's an important topic to discuss with your vet, just as Mommy did when I had to lose a little weight.
To make pet weight loss easier, my friends at Hills Pet have developed a new weight management food called Hill's® Prescription Diet® Metabolic Advanced Weight Solution dog and cat food, available only through your veterinarian. Their special formula food works by activating metabolism to regulate appetite and burn fat. In real life, normal conditions, 88% of dogs and cats that participated in our feeding trial lost weight without having to greatly change their life style.
Hill's® Prescription Diet® Metabolic Advanced Weight Solution includes a complete portfolio of dry food, canned food and treats designed to work together for easy, flexible weight loss success without deprivation, making it much easier for pet owners to keep pets on the program and comply with their vet’s recommendation. Pets feel full and satisfied and still lose weight! Read some of the Metabolic pet food reviews to see what people are saying. Just type the word "metabolic" in the product search bar.
Remember, with this formula, you change what your pet eats, not how your pet eats.

  3. My human said she may put all of us on that food. We eat a light weight dog food but with the cold snowy winter we didn't nmove much. Also my dog sister Angel has been sick and we got extra food sometimes in order to help her want to eat. Now we all need diets. I like the idea of not having to eat less

  8. My girl Willow is on the metabolic food. And she actually likes the taste of it. Great idea Pixel to help puppies lose weight. I never thought Willow was overweight either until the vet gave her a 4 or almost 5 I was shocked. And its more than just being a little fluffy its bad for their organs and joints. Love your blog ♥

    1. Hi Amy!
How very cool that sweet Willow is already on the Metabolic pet food. She's a beautiful girl! You are so right about even a little extra weight causing problems for pets. I was about 1.5 - 2 pounds overweight for a while, and Mommy Jenny was surprised as well! I'm now at my perfect weight. Even one pound extra on little dogs like me and Willow can be bad for our health!
Thank you so much for loving my blog Amy! That makes me feel so good. Take care and come back and visit soon!

  9. My 6 year old dog, Peanut Butter, is about 75 pounds (he's a big dog no matter what!), but as you say, he has no idea when to eat correctly, and with all of us feeding him, it's time to change things!

    1. Hi David!
It is tough for us pups to know how to eat correctly...we are often ruled by our stomachs, BOL! I have added you in for the drawing...good luck! I will say, if this helps, that one way Mommy helps keep me trim when there's others who feed me too, is that I get my set amount of food for the day measured out. Then they break it down into 4 meals throughout the day...I feel like a Princess getting so many meals, while Mommy knows I'm not getting over fed. Plus, she uses little Rice Chex as a tiny treat that is so low in calories, so I can have 3 or 4 and get "spoiled" without the excessive calories. Of course, this food has awesome treats that go with it, and they help with the weight loss like the dog food.
High Paws to you & Peanut Butter!!

  10. Willow sent me over!! Tucker and Willow are friends and they share their dieting experiences often. Tucker was a rescue a few years back and battle with heartworm disease and weighed less than 7 lbs so I used treats to bond with him..Needless to say, he got more than his fair share of treats!

    1. Hi Amy and Tucker!!
It is so nice to meet you both. Willow is a sweetheart for sending you over to my blog. I hope that means you'll come by often for some laughter and fun. I understand how important the bonding and necessary weight gain was for you & Tucker after you first rescued him (or did HE rescue you?), and the battle with heartworms hits close to home as my younger sister Dixie Mae was a mill dog Momma before she came to be a part of our family and she is still testing positive over a year later. We're doing all we can to keep her well.
I have entered you in the drawing. I hope this food works great if you are one of the randomly selected winners. I wish you luck and please keep in touch!

    1. Hi Carol!
Thank you so much for entering. Tell Bailey Cream that E-Bear should not be hogging, BOL! Measuring out our food each day is how Mommy & family keeps us pups in line with our ideal weight. I try to grab the occasional nibble from a different bowl than mine, but no one lets me get away with it.
Sending lots of love, Pixel :)
