Sharing Selfie Sunday With My New Sister Jellie

Hi friends!  I know it's been a while since you heard from me. I took a hiatus from blogging this summer and in that time, a lot of changes have occurred.
One of the best things to happen is that I now have a I now have a little sister named Jellie. She is a beautiful, sweet ball of energy and love who has blessed our family with immense joy.
Jellie and I have so much fun with each other! Today we "borrowed" Mommy's phone so we could take some photos together. Jellie can be a little camera shy, so we took some 'silly selfies' to get her feeling confident. By the end of her selfie session, she didn't want to give the camera phone back to Mommy!
I think Jellie is well on her way to being a supermodel. What do you think?
Have fun looking through our fun selfies posted below and tell me which ones are your favorite. And please give a warm welcome to little Jellie. She said she's looking forward to helping me on my blog.

Jellie and I are taking part in the Sunday Selfie Blog Hop, hosted by my good friend Janet Blue and her Kitties of "The Cat on my Head" blog. It's such fun! Check out the "meow mix" below of cute kitties and doggies.
So tell me...how was your Sunday friends?

Pixel Blue Eyes - Puppy Bowl Special Report and Carolina Panthers Fan Forever

Well, Super Bowl 50 is over, and so is my beloved Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet. I had fun yesterday watching and rewatching the plays by all the exciting players at both games. I just want to say, that no matter who won, and who walked away with their ears held low, I am proud of every single one of you. You gave it your all, all season, and look at how far you got! You made it to the biggest game of the year. And I'm so proud of you!!! You MUST be proud of yourself! Remember, just because you don't carry the trophy, doesn't mean you're still not a winner. You tried your best and that's all any of us can do. Never give up, whether you win or lose. I think we all can carry that truth with us no matter the circumstance in life.
And having said that, Mommy and I just want to say that we always have been and always will be Carolina Panthers fans, now and forever! You don't have to win a prize for us to be faithful to you.
Now, regarding the Puppy Bowl, as you can see, I've got at least half a team already in my family with my sisters Sassy, Bella, Dixie Mae and Peanut. We have a great time playing and running around together so we had a GREAT time watching it on TV yesterday. I'd like to share something that hits close to home about this year's Puppy Bowl.
One of the puppies, Charlie, a 16 week old male Feist/Whippet mix, who played in the first quarter for Team Fluff, was from City Dogs Rescue out of Washington DC, a rescue that Mommy has worked closely with. Great job out there Charlie!! Nice footwork and fantastic teamwork.
Here's a special story done by the Wall Street Journal done about Charlie and City Dogs Rescue. The rescue representative being interviewed, Amy Bandyk, is a friend of Mommy's, and loves the dogs very much!

City Dogs is one of the very first rescues that Mommy (Jenny)  got associated with through her work doing pet portraits for the Smyth County Animal Shelter. They were one of the first rescues that started a partnership with the shelter to pull some of the homeless dogs, foster and spay/neuter them, and then find them an amazing home. Mommy's photos of the dogs that she took while working with Officer and friend Kristy Moore at the shelter helped them first find the shelter! So it was really neat to see City Dogs represented in the national Puppy Bowl! City Dogs Rescue has helped rescue hundreds of unwanted dogs and puppies from just our one shelter alone in the last 2 years. And they do amazing work like give each dog training and follow up on the homes and pups for months after they are adopted. Yet another winner!!
So, did YOU watch either the Puppy Bowl 2016 or Super Bowl 50? How about the Kitty Bowl? I didn't get to watch that one... Who did you root for? What are you thoughts on all of this? I'd love to hear them.

The Joy of Flower Power - Beautiful Dogs for Adoption with Sophie Gamand Photography

In celebration of National Dog Day, I wanted to share some extraordinary portraits of some extraordinary dogs by a very talented photographer. I first saw the #PitBullFlowerPower portraits by Sophie Gamand a few weeks ago and I fell in love with every single one of them. She has a real gift for  pet photography and a heart for helping pets in need. Sophie chose to do this series only of pit bull breed dogs because they often get a bad rap for no reason. The "pit bull" is actually any one of several breeds including Staffordshire Bull Terrier, American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Bull Terrier, or any mix of those breeds. Sometimes even English Bulldog or Boston Terrier mix dogs are grouped in as pit bulls.
This is what Sophie Gamand says on her website about this project: ""Flower Power" is about challenging myself to approach pit bulls with a fresh perspective and an open heart. I invite the viewer to do the same." To me ALL dogs are beautiful, and these amazing portraits highlight just how beautiful they are! Some of these dogs have since been adopted, but most of them are still in need of a loving forever home. Please share this post with all your friends, on your Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Google+ and other social media pages and let's find ALL of them a home this week!! Doesn't every single dog deserve a loving home?
Lovely Lucy is a 9 year young female pit bull/Labrador mix with the most infectious smile and beautiful amber eyes. Lucy is loyal, smart, sweet as can be and very affectionate.
Lucy was abandoned at a vet's office this past June unable to walk. She was taken in by Animal Haven rescue who got her the surgery she needed. Lucy is still healing and they are unsure if she'll be able to fully walk again, but she's still the sweetest girl around! Lucy would love nothing better than to spend her days bringing smiles and joy to her forever loving best friend or family.
For more information on how to adopt this beautiful flower they call lovely Lucy, visit Lucy's Animal Haven page.
This unique blue & brown eyed beauty is Cali, a beautiful two-and-a-half-year-old Pitbull Terrier mix. Cali is a very sweet pup who loves to play and give kisses. She is very obedient and loving, but she does require some leash training.
Mommy & I have found that positive leash training is a great way to bond, especially when you are a dog who wants to obey and please. So, I bet Cali and her new loving pet parent would pick it up in no time!
For more information on adopting this captivating sweet faced girl, visit Cali's Petango adoption page.
Dharma, the gorgeous geisha girl dog, is a 5 month old female pit/Whippet mix (yes, that's right) with the most beautiful golden green/ice blue eyes you've ever seen. She's just a baby, ready to start a new life with a loving forever family. Dharma is so sweet, long legged, delicate and aims to please. She will make someone a fantastic best friend! She will probably be on the smaller size too.
For more information and to put an application in to adopt this beautiful flower, visit Dharma's Animal Haven adoption page.
Thank you Sophie Gamand, for doing this beautiful flower series for all these pit bull pups. Thank you for believing in them and helping others to see the beauty they've always had! To see many more pit bull flowering beauties up for adoption, please visit Sophie's special #PitBullFlowerPower page.
This is a "Tuesday's Tails" blog hop, where homeless pets are featured to help them find homes. It's sponsored by our friends at Dogz & Paws. To see other pets up for adoption who need loving homes, visit some of the other blog links below.

The Joy of the Game - Super Dog Sunday Part I

~~Pixel's Official Contest Photos Blog Post ~~
It is Super Bowl Sunday here in the U.S. But for dogs and pet bloggers all over the internet, it is SUPER DOG SUNDAY! This specific post is part of a very fun Blog Hop where pet blogs post their most fun football pet photos to share. One cannot help but be excited that there is a contest with prizes awarded by our Fantastic Hosts: ALL THINGS DOG BLOG & DOG TIPPER, but all of this fun is really about supporting the PET FINDER FOUNDATION, who works with shelters, rescue organizations and animal welfare organizations across the country to help ensure that no adoptable pet is euthanized for lack of a good home.
I have two very special football photos to share...
The first one is of myself. The football was supplied by our two hosts a few weeks ago. I have been practicing my best football plays, and Mommy caught the action on camera. Here I am, running as I carry the ball I caught moments before into the 'end zone.' Can you see the dirt & stuff flying up from my paws and my ears flapping as I run? What a fun day it was! You can catch all the cool Pixel football action with lots and lots of photos at this blog link

This second very special photo is of a superstar named Flurry. Isn't she beautiful? She is a giant schnauzer mix and lives in Texas at the Pasadena Animal Rescue & Assistance shelter. She has the sweetest face, eyes and smile...and she needs a forever home really badly. I can tell she will be lots of fun to play with and cuddle.
I had fun using Image Chef software to give her the superstar display she deserves. I wish I could be friends with her! Why don't you go see her on her Pet Finder's page? Please help her find her forever, loving home, just like I did.

Click HERE to see ALL the amazing Pixel football action photos. They are very fun and full of good plays, if I do say so myself. Love you all! Pixel
